DJ Speaker Selection
By Andy Speropulos
Sound is entirely subjective. Before you purchase a new set of speakers, lets look at four major components of selecting a loudspeaker; clarity, power consumption and output, and aesthetics.
Clarity is not subjective!!! There is clarity in the speaker or there is not. Efficiency is the second most important factor when determining speaker selection. Even in powered speakers. You must keep in mind that the amplifiers that will be needed to power your speakers take power obviously. I recommend QSC PLX2 amplifiers because of their amazing efficiency and power output attained. There is also speaker efficiency.
Almost everyone I've sold a speaker to, when looking at the speaker, says, "How many watts is it?" This rating ranged from 88db/1watt to 109db/1 watt. Go take a speaker whose efficiency rating is low and compare it to a speaker whose it high, and for the specs readers. Put down your manuals and go actually listen to the speaker.
How to Choose a Good Speaker
By Victor Epand
A speaker is a device through which we receive the sound or the music. Therefore, it is very essential to choose a good speaker that will deliver high quality sound and which has high frequency level like the 2-way speakers and 3-way speakers.
The first step in choosing a good speaker is to decide what kind of speaker is required: whether it is a floor-standing speaker, a subwoofer or satellite system speaker, and an in wall, in ceiling or an outdoors speaker. Now, all these different speakers have different qualities and features. For instance, subwoofers are the tiniest speakers with amazing performance whereas, floor standing speakers are the larger ones with wide range of frequencies and deep bass. A good speaker should deliver clear, natural and lively sound with no distortion.
